Wrestling News for July 26, 2011

  • News from SummerSlam is that Cee Lo Green is scheduled to perform at the show.
  • The Rock will make an appearance at Survivor Series to further the feud between he and John Cena continuing to set-up their match at WrestleMania next year in Miami.
  • The IWA Mid-South has reportedly been sold to unnamed investors who are waiting to make an official announcement. The announcement has been expected for some time and the delay is reportedly due to an attempt by the initial investors to bring other benefactors on board. The IWA Mid-South has long been embroiled in controversy due to the actions of longtime owner and wrestler Ian Rotten. The IWA Mid-South is known for its extreme style of booking and matches that tow the line between hard core wrestling and violence. Rotten was buried on a live podcast "And Then The Bell Rings" during which he admitted to violence against lady wrestler Mickie Knuckles and to selling prescription drugs to JC Bailey, who passed away due to complications of post concussion syndrome and drug abuse.
  • Rotten announced his retirement from pro wrestling and the closure of IWA Mid-South shortly after his appearance on the podcast. Many fans are taking this latest announcement with a grain of salt since no update has been provided since the initial announcement. The IWA Mid-South message board was wiped clean with the announcement and many are speculating that this is just another feeble attempt by Rotten and those associated with him to swerve fans. There are many who have posted on the message board that they are owed money or tickets from previous incarnations of the group.
  • Cody Hall, son of former NWO member Scott Hall, who just recently completed a stint in jail due to his ongoing battle with alcohol addiction, is said to be training with his father and former AWA World Champion Larry Zbyszko for a career in pro wrestling.
  • Rob Van Dam has gone on record as saying that younger stars in TNA are not asking the veterans for help and guidance in their career. Well, RVD is not one that would be at the top of the list to ask for career advice, maybe how to score good weed but not how to work.
  • Desmond Wolfe was cut from the roster of TNA some time ago amidst rumors that he had Hepatitis C. There was no official reason given for his dismissal other than for a medical reason. As I did with the Chyna story and her having completed a new adult film for Vivid when everyone else was backing away, I will stand by my reporting. There are times when the hardest things to report are the ones that are true.
  • The WWE DVD offering "Greatest Cage Matches" is one that is well worth the money.
  • More on SummerSlam, the main event is scheduled to be CM Punk v. John Cena to determine who the champion is.
  • Davey Richards has been hospitalize with a staph infection and no word on his upcoming bookings with ROH.
  • The Young Bucks are expected to return to ROH after their TNA experience left them empty.
  • Dave Hebner underwent heart surgery and is expected to recover fully.
  • Kane is expected to be off TV for at least three months selling the broken leg. It will be interesting to see if Kane appears in public without a cast or crutches in that time period.
  • I recently saw a photo of The Undertaker without his trademark long hair and looking somewhat gaunt. Undertaker has been out for sometime to rehab and heal lingering injuries and recent surgery, he is expected to return at WrestleMania if not before as part of an angle.
  • Friend of the show Jerry Wilson will present "Summer Blast" on August 6, 2011 at the 4-H Building in Columbus, Indiana at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds. "Bad Attitude" Brian Beech, Flash Flanagan and Sexy Shawn Cook are scheduled to be part of the show along with "Diceman" Ronnie Vegas and TJ Powers as well as others.
  • Congratulations to Gregory Iron, longtime listener first time caller to this show and others produced by Jerry Wiseman. Iron has done a number of interviews with me and he is great in the ring in spite of his disability. Iron was put out in the spotlight recently by CM Punk and is now doing interviews and appearances. Many outlets are focusing on his disability, Cerebral Palsy, instead of his ability, a damn good worker.
  • Hulk Hogan is pulling a page out of Ric Flair's book and offering phone calls for $495.
  • The Miz is the #1 Wrestler according to the worked "PWI 500" put forth by Pro Wrestling Illustrated. Congratulations for what it is worth.
  • Sin Cara is in hot water with the WWE after going on record, albeit briefly, that he did not fail a Wellness Test for steroids. The WWE was not happy with his announcement in a Mexican newspaper and if there was hesitation about whether or not to bring him back, that is gone now.
  • News, podcasts, interviews, commentary, questions, answers, analysis and more all coming soon to this location. Stay tuned...
